Description
Our Envelopes are lovingly handcrafted little bags that are matched to the dimensions of the string wraps. They are sewn in the timeless design of an envelope from two layers of fabric and can be closed with a small button. All buttons are taken from our collection of antique mother of pearl accessories. Replacement strings in original packaging as well as individual strings that you still want to keep for later use can be organised in the envelope instead of being left loose in the case. Our envelopes are made from either vintage kimonos, dupioni silk, cotton or a combination of these materials. Please refer to the ‘Additional information’ section for the exact composition. The pattern on the inner fabric can be seen in the second photo, which shows the open envelope.
The envelopes for the violin and viola strings are all approximately 13 cm by 13 cm in size. There is also a smaller version for loose gut strings, measuring approximately 12 cm by 12 cm, called Violin S. The envelopes for the cello strings are all approximately 16 cm by 16 cm in size. As they are sewn from small strips of fabric, the dimensions of the envelopes vary by a few millimetres from one to the next, as they are all handmade as one-off pieces. The exact dimensions for each individual item are specified in the description. The first measurement shows the width of the envelope, the second its height.
